Until recently, Twizel and the surrounding areas were largely unexplored by mountain bikers. With minimal entries in guide books it looked to non-locals that we had no trails to ride! Last year, we set up Helibike.com Ltd and began to slowly introduce mountain biking into the mainstream. Now, with a host of highly regarded trails, both downhill and cross country, Twizel is slowly appearing on mountain biking maps.

Helibiking
"What flys up, must ride down"! We fly you to the top of the mountain by helicopter then you ride down some of the most stunning scenery in New Zealand at your own pace. We have routes for downhill experts, more gentle options for the less experienced and price points to suit most budgets. Town Bike Hire
We are the only bike hire business in Twizel and we have plenty of bikes, helmets, puncture repair kits and maps of the area for you to hire. Twizel itself, and the immediate area surrounding it, is flat and easy to cycle on. Explore the town or network of hydro canals and visit the local salmon farm.
