Guided tours allow you to discover hidden secrets that are all around you, like why the glaciers may not be what you expect and why we have some glaciers retreating and others advancing. As locals, we know when and where you should take the best photos and what to look out for. Climate change is also rapidly altering the landscape and glaciers. Are these changes natural or man made? Listen to our experienced guides and look around you, then you decide...

About the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park

The Mount Cook National Park is a United Nations World Heritage Park (A World Heritage Site is a place considered to be of either cultural or physical significance). Aoraki/Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand, reaching a height of 3,754 metres (12,316 ft). The official name is Aoraki/Mount Cook, where Aoraki means "Cloud in the Sky" in the Ngāi Tahu dialect of the Māori language. Ngai Tahu believe that Mount Cook is actually Aoraki, their revered ancestor. Aoraki/Mt Cook consists of three summits, the Low Peak, Middle Peak and High Peak and has the Tasman Glacier to the east and the Hooker Glacier to the west. The park contains more than 140 peaks standing over 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) and 72 named glaciers, which cover 40 percent of the park's 700 square kilometres (170,000 acres). With a small population based only in the Mount Cook Village, this is a mecca for outdoor activities in a pristine alpine environment and is one of best places in world to see examples of the natural force of glaciers, plate tectonics, erosion and climate change that continually shape our planet.
