Information and Booking Office, Twizel

The Discovery Tours Travel Information and Booking Centre is now based in the iHub Outdoor Activity and Information Centre, next to Poppy's Café in Twizel, New Zealand. This huge new retail outlet offers the outdoor enthusiast the opportunity to glean information from the locals, book activities and tours, and even buy or hire the equipment needed to enjoy outdoor activities. We share the space with Mountain Bike Mt Cook, the only mountain bike shop in this part of New Zealand, covering Twizel, Tekapo, Ohau and Omarama who also sell Helibike mountain biking tours.

 

Our range of outdoor clothing and equipment includes some of the well known outdoor clothing brands such as Earth Sea Sky (New Zealand made outdoor clothing) and Cactus Backcountry backpacks and accessories.

We have a full outdoor activities and information centre staffed by experienced Information Centre staff, all of whom are keen local outdoor enthusiasts and most of whom are also Tour Guides. Consequently, pop in for some local information on Mountain Bike Tours, Glacier Tours, Lord of the Rings Tours, guided hikes, the weather forecast or simply to share information about your favourite New Zealand activity. We'd strongly advise getting our locals version of the weather forecast around the Mount Cook area before attempting any flights, tours, walking or hiking as the weather here can vary dramatically from mountain to mountain or even depending on the side of the mountain or lake you are intending to visit.
 

If you want to explore on your own, the mountain bike shop has a range of mountain bikes for hire. Their Hire bikes can be rented by the hour or the day. All bikes come with a helmet, puncture repair kit and local map, if required. For their Helibike and mountain bike tours, they also have a range of full suspension high spec bikes for hire.
