Heli Bike New Zealand

 All our trips start from our office in Twizel. Pickups from your accommodation can be arranged. Prices include helicopter flight, guide and transport to and from the start and finish points. The 3 hour trips also include bike hire. For all other trips, Bike and equipment hire is an extra $50 per trip, if required.


1. Omahau Helibike


Grade
: 2 - Easy (Intermediate fitness req'd)
Duration: 3 hours, all year round
Price: $349 per person including bike hire

A great trip for the novice mountain biker. Easy tracks with panoramic views of the Mackenzie Basin and the beautiful Lakes Ohau and Pukaki. Ride the 4WD and farm tracks finishing with an hour long fast and flat ride to Twizel through the Pelennor fields Lord of the Rings film site and an optional swim in the warm Lock Cameron.

2. Grand Greta Helibike
Grade: 3 - Intermediate (Intermediate fitness required)


Duration: 6 Hours, October to May
Price: $449 per person, including bike hire

Our premier trip. Reach the summit of Ben Ohau with amazing 360 degree views over Lake Ohau on one side to Mt Benmore on the other, this feels like you're on top of the world. Bike down rocky farm track with several small stream crossings. The scenery changes from mountain to rocky gorge, through a remnant beech forest and ends up on the shores of the beautiful Lake Ohau. Cycle back to Twizel along a gravel road by the lakeside. Some of the most varied scenery and terrain you'll find on any single New Zealand Helibike experience!

3. Conservation Rides
Grade: 1 - Very easy (Intermediate fitness required)


Duration: 3 hours, all year round
Price: $99 per person excluding bike hire

This non-helicopter option is a ride up to the foot of the mountains for mountain bikers who want to help with local conservation projects and learn all about the high country ecology, geology, flora and fauna from an expert and local guide. This option can be added for a lesser charge into some of our Helibike trips to make a full and very satisfying day or can be done as a separate activity.
